Guide to Planning Your Tofino Elopement

Tofino is one of the most popular locations to elope in British Columbia. With the amount of things to do in Tofino combined with the great food and stunning landscapes make this place a great one for planning an elopement.

As a photographer with many years of experience shooting elopements and weddings in the Tofino area, I highly recommend making this a full vacation and experience as much as you can with your time here! Of course, balancing it with a restful time to focus on celebrating you two. There are many excellent restaurants, activities and places to explore in Tofino.

Best places to elope near tofino

Middle Beach Lodge: Located between Mackenzie Beach and Middle Beach, this is a perfect place for where the rainforest meets the sea kind of experience. Mackenzie is a busier but beautiful beach and at low tide is an extra special place. Middle Beach is a quieter and harder-to-get to beach if you aren't staying at the lodge.

Atleo Air Heli-Tours: This is for the beach-to-peak type couples who want to experience it all! We can do a first-look on the beach and the ceremony on the mountain. If you haven't been on a helicopter before, this might be something you want to look into. Check out this elopement gallery to see what it might look like.

Cox Bay: There are a couple great resorts on this beach. Pacific Sands and Long Beach Lodge are lovely options. At low tide, Cox Bay itself is a wonderful place to explore! The rock formations and little caves are so beautiful. We can also walk the boardwalk out to Pettinger Point, but I believe you have to be staying at Pacific Sands for this to be available.

Unique places to stay in Tofino

There are many great AirBnB cabins and other spots to stay in Tofino. A few of my favourites are this inlet-side guesthouse with hot tub, Wild Pod waterfront glamping, The Shoreline boutique A-frame style hotel, this semi private-beach spot, and this peaceful cabin that is closer to Ucluelet but is too darn special to miss. Oh! Another great water-front place to stay in Tofino is this floathouse in a warm cove up an inlet near town.

Things to do near tofino

  • Take a scenic float plane tour and see Tofino from the sky. You can go up to the glaciers and have a dip in a lake or cruise the coastline and look for wildlife. There are all types of trips for the adventurous couples out there.
  • Catch a salmon on a fishing charter or go whale watching with the many different options. A couple great ones are Ocean Outfitters and Adventure Tofino.
  • Go for a surf. This is the reason I moved to Tofino and lived and breathed for many years (until I had a daughter, haha!). I HIGHLY recommend Surf Sister. I worked here when I first arrived and it was the most welcoming and lovely community of surfers I could have ever stumbled upon. They are also excellent surfers and teachers.
  • Visit Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. So many things to see here! There are countless beaches including the infamous Long Beach and Florencia Bay.
