Tofino Mountain Elopement with Atleo Air

2024 is the year of eloping in Tofino. I am booking more elopements than I ever have and there are so many great spots on the Tofino coast to do it. Ariel and TJ decided to go to the coastal mountains via helicopter and had planned an intimate elopement on Mount Ursus. We hopped into the Atleo Air helicopter, flown by my favourite pilot, Jay, and rode our way up from the sea to the peaks. The mountains tend to feel so far away when you spend most of your time by the ocean so it was a treat. It was a perfectly clear and warm October day. There were clouds in the sky but just enough to create a nice diffusion of light over Ariel and TJ while they shared their vows with each other with the setting sun and the west coast as their backdrop. Nature truly provides the best venue and this magical evening proved that.

If you are thinking about getting married on a mountain in October, there are things you can do to prepare.

  1. Go into it with no expectations - the weather changes fast on the coast and faster in the mountains so bring something warm with you. Fortunately, with weather changes comes beautiful light.
  2. Think about the light - To get those long rays along the mountainside, aim for the sun to be a little lower. We don't want to fly back in the dark, but that will provide some really nice glowing moments.
  3. Eat a snack before you go. It is so common to forget to eat on the elopement day, so plan to eat ahead or bring a snack. I always have a granola bar just in case you forget!

Need a photographer for your Tofino helicopter elopement? It is one of my most favourite things to do around here as you get to see this area from a completely different perspective. Check out more of my work and give me a holler if you're interested in working together!
