Hopefully, you have a couple of hours for yourself the day before your wedding day...
If you don't, I highly recommend you claim at least 2-3 hours so you can take some time for some self-care. This is the time of your life to put yourself first. So, here are some AMAZING spots in Tofino where you can take yourself to chill out and set yourself up for a restful evening before your wedding day.
I don't do this kind of stuff often, but on the Friday before our wedding I did a couple of these self-love activities and I was so grateful to myself. Also proud because I know it can be hard for many of us to be kind to ourselves. Do it!!
Most of the spas/treatment spaces I recommend offer everything you might need/want in a spa. I wanted to recommend different options so you have a few possibilities to choose from. Here we go.
With a view looking straight West towards the sea, the Ancient Cedars Spa at the Wickaninnish Inn is stunning. The eucalyptus steam is incredible and makes you feel so fresh and relaxed. Book an hour or two here with your hunny for a day-before couples retreat.
Get your skin GLOWING for your wedding day. Riley at Sound Skincare is one of those magical people who makes you feel so welcome and loved. Just the sound of her voice is relaxing. I went here the day before our wedding, and my goodness, I couldn't believe how bright and nourished my skin looked. This is a gentle and deeply hydrating facial that involves gua sha (she explains what this is on her website) and restorative enzymes, masks and serums. Riley customizes it to each client's skin type. It is magic. I highly recommend adding the LED Light Therapy for that extra radiance.
Melody is a wonderfully kind person who puts all of her loving energy into her work. If you love acupuncture, she is your woman. Bonus, she does house/resort calls! I have had acupuncture done in the past, but not with Melody. I have booked a session with her for this weekend though so I will add a little update afterwards!
UPDATE! I went for acupuncture last Saturday and it was wonderful. Melody has a beautiful gentle demeanour that made me feel so comfortable. I hadn't had the best experiences with acupuncture, and she completely transformed the way I see it. Thank you Melody!
I have never done Craniosacral Therapy but I have wanted to try it and I have heard it's wonderful. I have tried Reflexology and it is so relaxing. I highly recommend. This space is hidden and quiet even though it is right in the middle of downtown Tofino. I go here often for massages, so Breedom is a great alternative for the Wick Spa if you don't need the 'coastal atmosphere'. It is wonderful.
If you're looking to get your nails done, this is a quick and easy spot in town to do that. The atmosphere for mani/pedis is more clean and bright with windows where you can see outside. I went here the day before our wedding and it had great conversation with the esthetician.
There are a few other spas in town, but wanted to share the ones that I have visited or am visiting very soon. I can't wait to share more experiences with you.
Get in the ocean and have the best time of your life (other than your wedding day of courses). Surf Sister Surf School is SO much fun and if you know anything about its owner, Krissy, then you know it's the spot to get your lesson. They teach men, women and children (some people think they only teach women...not true!). I taught surfing here many years ago and I love the group of amazing women who work there. If you want a big smile on your face and feel like a kid again, take a lesson with Surf Sister.
What do you want to know about Tofino? What other guides would you love to see?
Happy wedding planning!
